The plight of the homeless was highlighted outside North Bay City Hall on Monday.

Several tents were set up next to Leger Square

Shane Moyer is with the Nighthawks.

He says they have 105 members and they need a place to stay.

“There is no affordable housing. They waited until we got kicked out on the curb before they decided they wanted to step up to the plate and say we’re here to help,” he says.

He says they have met with housing officials and Councillor Mark King and they were told a solution would be found.

“We are going to work together on getting transitional and affordable housing for people. The main thing now is to get people into the shelters where we can get people housed,” Moyer says.

Moyer says the Nighthawks help the homeless by providing blankets and clothing and doing wellness checks including First Aid.
