Have you been looking for a new snack to try with the kids during this weird summer break? Don’t worry, it looks like Ben & Jerry’s have your back!

You and I both know eating raw cookie dough isn’t the best idea, what with salmonella being a concern when eating uncooked eggs. Good news though! Ben & Jerry’s have a safe cookie dough recipe they use in their ice creams, and they’ve released it so you can give it a go!

Apart from eggs being harmful, raw flour can also be harmful when consumed. To get around this, B&J recommend heat treating your flour to 165°F before starting to assemble your cookie dough.

Now, let’s get to what you’ve been waiting for!

Ingredients:

  • 8 tbsp. unsalted butter (1 stick), room temperature
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp. heavy cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 cup flour
  •  ½ cup chocolate chips

Step 1: Heat Treat Flour

  • In 30 second intervals, warm your flour in the microwave, stirring in between.
  • Raw flour could contain contaminants, make sure it is warmed to 165°F throughout.

Step 2: Using either a stand mixer of a hand mixer, beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

Step 3: Add vanilla, cream and salt. Mix.

Step 4: Add heat treated flour and combine.

Step 5: Fold in chocolate chips.

Step 6: DEVOUR! (and enjoy!)
