COVID-19 testing numbers are up locally.
Mayor Al McDonald posted on social media Thursday afternoon that hospital officials say the assessment centre has seen a dramatic increase in demand for testing with the numbers, nearly four times the average, putting a strain on staff resources.
They’re asking for patience as they work to get everyone through.
As of Friday afternoon, 12448 tests have been done in the district.
The Health Unit says it can take 4-10 days for test results to be available on the online portal.
