One Kids Place continues to work on a plan with the Health Unit and the province towards reopening, but for now they are still closed.
They continue to offer virtual services.
“It is critical to make sure we do this right. For the safety of our children we serve, our therapy teams who deploy these services and the overall health of our communities.” says Denis Filiatrault, Executive Director, One Kids Place.
Officials say say while work continues on the local reopening plan, measures still need to put in place, including the sourcing of PPE and creating alternate strategies to service delivery.
“Our people are coming up with some very creative ideas to help families in need, and are ensuring that we are following the robust guidelines set out by the provincial government (A Measured Approach to Planning for Surgeries and Procedures During the COVID-19 Pandemic)”, said Filiatrault.

North Bay now has two child care centres available for frontline workers.
Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced the YMCA Mother St. Bride Centre is now open.
He says this ensures frontline health care workers will be able to access safe, local emergency child care.
It joins previously opened centres at the YMCA Woodland centre in North Bay and Fairview centre in Powassan.
“During these challenging times, our Government is supporting our frontline workers with emergency childcare centres so they can rest assured, knowing their children are being looked after in a safe place,” said Fedeli. “Our frontline workers will have access to safe, local child care centres, making it easier for health care and other frontline workers to do their jobs.”
