Local company making face shields for the hospital and Redpath Canada Limited helping too

North Bay’s Hillcrest Cabinets is doing their part to help out the hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation recently put out a call for personal protective equipment, including face shields.

Owner Justin Lahaie says they’re making face shields with their 3D printer for the hospital.

“It takes about an hour and a half to print one and we’re printing about eight at a time. We’re printing a few and then we assemble them. Luckily the people over at Wellwise by Shoppers Drug Mart helped us out with the bands to strap it on,” he says.

Lahaie says they aren’t running at full capacity and wanted to do their part in trying to keep the virus at bay.

“The design for the face shield was made where countries are hardest hit, somebody came up with the design of it and posted it online, so there wasn’t a whole lot to prep,” he adds.

Lahaie says they’ll have a box of about 30 face shields that will be delivered tomorrow (Tuesday).

Also assisting the campaign is Redpath Canada Limited with their mining contractors and engineers donating 19,000 pairs of medical disposable gloves.
