The North Bay-Parry Sound District Health Unit has added test results to its COVID-19 reports in the district.

As of Sunday afternoon at 5 pm there were no positive results.

Of note: 82 people had been tested, 46 results are pending and 36 came back negative.

The president of the North Bay Regional Hospital told BayToday that it’s important for people who went away on March Break and are returning to North Bay or after wintering in the United States or further south to self-isolate when they return.

Covid-19 is having a negative impact on food bank donations across the country.

Food Banks Canada has announced a goal of raising $150 million to fund the public’s need for food for the next 90 days.

The organization says some are experiencing up to a 50% decrease in donations with just over two weeks supply left.

To that end, Rogers has heard the call for support.

The company is donating one million meals and helping raise awareness through a national awareness campaign to help fill the shelves.

Beginning this week and airing for the next four weeks, the public service announcements will air in high rotation across Rogers radio and television stations both on air and on social media.

Meantime, the North Bay Food Bank has changed its hours of operation for clients. They are now open Monday and Friday from 9 am-noon and noon to 4 on Wednesday. Donations and drop offs are being accepted from 9-4 daily Monday to Friday.

The North Bay and Area Community Foundation and Rotary Club of North Bay have launched a combined effort called the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund.

The goal is to support local organizations and projects in the areas of healthcare and food security.

The North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority says dog owners should keep their dogs on a leash during COVID-19 due to the importance of social distancing.

It says don’t forget to poop and scoop while you’re on conservation area trails and keep at least a 1.5 meter distance from those around you on the trails.

The authority’s offices are closed but staff are all responding to emails and telephone queries.

TP North Bay says they will be cancelling their May Campaign, due to the COVID-19 virus.
They’re now looking at a fall campaign in September.
