Snowmobile trails are opening on a daily basis.

That’s the word from North Bay Snowmobile Club Marketing Director Shawn Flindall.

He tells BayToday last weekend’s dumping of snow was a big help.

“Not only was it the better part of 30 cm of snow but it was nice moisture-packed snow which is great for grooming trails and we’ve had some nice cold nights since,’ Flindall says.

He says the first big weekend of the season is coming up and it’s exciting for the sledding community.

“I think by this weekend we’ll probably have 75 percent of the trails in the region open, but on a limited basis, we’re not by any means perfect yet,” he says.

Flindall says that means a few swamps may still be causing them some problems with a few rocks still exposed, so extra caution is needed this early in the season.
