The milder weather brought out plenty of skiers and snowboarders to Laurentian Ski Hill over the holidays, but the focus now is on getting more runs open.

Along with the Beginner Hill their main two runs, Maples and Slingshot, have been open.

“The good news is it’s been fairly mild, so people are coming out,” says General Manager Cam Graham. “We can’t complain about our numbers and our membership is up over last year, those are all positives, but at the same time I want to get this hill done as quick as we can and we’ll get right into our full season.”

He says they need snow and cold temperatures to open more of the hill.

“Getting our mogul run together, getting our ski cross run together, snowboard cross run, getting our park put together and eventually, as we spread, we’ll get to our new run, which we haven’t made any snow on yet, but we’re going to start on that really soon, as well,” he adds.

After one day of operations for the Beginner Hill on December 14th, the hill opened Friday, December 20th.
