Work continues on the Cassells Street four-laning project, with city officials telling BayToday the roadway is expected to re-open in the first week of December.

The contractor is expected to continue installing infrastructure until the end of the month.

The project will then resume in the spring.

Meantime, more free parking maybe on the way to the city.

BayToday reported earlier this week that as part of the 2020 budget deliberations, the Downtown Improvement area approved a motion to support the end of paid parking at 4:30 pm.

Right now motorists need to feed the meter from 8 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday.

Saturdays and Sundays are free.
