A year long investigation by Global News and other partners has revealed nearly a third of all Ontario schools and daycares had at least one test result over Health Canada’s maximum acceptable limit for lead concentration in drinking water and there’s local results too.

The Health Canada limit is five parts per billion while the provincial limit is 10.

The report cites results between April 2016 and March 2018.

St Joseph, an International English School, a school in Sturgeon Falls, Alliance and Widdifield are tops on the local list with results over the limit.

Global News partnered with Concordia University’s Institute for Investigative Journalism and other media organizations for the investigation.

The report notes any readings over 10 parts per billion would have required immediate action.
