A 35 year old man is facing several charges after police received a 911 call about a man putting a machine gun into a car outside a motel on Lakeshore Drive in North Bay on Sunday.

Police say an OPP officer attempted a traffic stop because of erratic driving, but the man refused to stop and fled southbound on Lakeshore.

He was later arrested at the motel with police seizing an airsoft gun, similar in appearance to a military assault rifle.

The man is charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and other driving infractions.

He was held for a bail hearing.
