Jack Garland Airport is getting $2.4 million in provincial funding.
Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the funds will allow the airport to repair and extend its cross-wind runway and approach light system and will help attract new business to the city.

“This is a key component that we have a long future ahead of us- another 20-25 years. The runway is taken care of now for quite some time. The crosswind runway will be done. The infrastructure is all in place and we’re really in great shape now to chase an aerospace company,” Fedeli says.

Airport manager Jack Santerre says the airport provides 400 jobs and returns $57 million to the economy every year so this is needed funding.

“Without these key pieces of infrastructure that have to be renewed on an ongoing basis or  rehabilitated on an ongoing basis our task would be impossible,” Santerre says.
