Councillor Mike Anthony has posted on social media that vile, hateful, racial, homophobic images and words that had been spray-painted at Greenhill Park playground has since been covered up after a citizen made him aware of the situation.

Deputy Police Chief Michael Daze told BayToday finding out who is responsible for defacing city property in this way is important to police.

“When it comes to the hate stuff it is offensive and there’s no room for it in the city. That’s stuff that’s investigated and it’s done by the major crimes branch for us,” Daze says.

He says they’ll be canvassing the area to find out more.

Anthony says city staff will return later to do a more complete paint job of the building.
