The People’s Party of Canada has a candidate in Nipissing-Timiskaming for the fall Federal election.

Mark King is carrying the PPC banner locally.

Last week, the city councillor announced he was going over his options after earlier learning that an appeal of his nomination as the Conservative candidate was upheld — and he was replaced.

Last week, King congratulated Liberal incumbent Anthony Rota for winning the riding.

He was asked about that today.

“You only need look behind me to see the number of people that are here to support me. Justin Trudeau was going to be here next month. They’ve cancelled that visit but I think they better bring him back,” he says.

King says his key issues are efforts to attack the opioid Crisis and the need for the four-laning of Highway 11 North

King says unlike Liberal and Conservative candidates he’ll be his own man should he win and he’s received assurances of support from leader Maxime Bernier.

“They know that I stand up for the region. They know that I can’t be pushed down and they know that I will fight for what’s right,” King says.
