The downward trend continues for a number of crime stats in North Bay.

The latest stats from city police show that assaults, robberies, theft incidents, mischief counts and drug charges are all down to the end of May.

That’s compared to the first five months of 2018.

Sexual offences and stolen vehicles were nearly the same.

The one area that’s up is break, enter and thefts.

In the first five months of the year there were 128, up 14 from a year ago.

Deputy Police Chief Michael Dazé sees this as more of a spike at this point.

“We see in some of the stats there are ebbs and flows. That is a spike for us but the overall trend is on par with last year, but we are trying to reduce the numbers. We will see spikes,” he says

Calls for service are up 348, while total criminal offences are down 227.
