Hundreds of people will be raising awareness and funds for cancer research at tonight’s Relay For Life at the CFB North Bay track.

The event also celebrates cancer survivors and remembers those lost.

Chair Tracy Davis says the relay is a unique event.

“Parts of it definitely are really difficult, we’ve lost a lot of people to cancer, but it’s also a celebratory time with lots of community folks up there, lots of great music, lots of really uplifting stories to hear,” she says.

Davis says the fundraising goal is to surpass $100,000.

Registration can be done on site, but she encourages everyone to sign up online (CLICK HERE FOR THE LINK).

Honourary survivor Kim Kanmacher says everyone’s journey is different, but her message is about survivor-ship and how she was inspired to give back.

“I really encourage those who are going through cancer right now, and have family and siblings that you can encourage your loved one to be inspired and to give back and to keep on fighting,” she says.

The Relay goes from 6-11 pm tonight.
