City Councillor Mac Bain has been named the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities’ Executive of the Year.

He was presented with the award at FONOM’s 2019 municipal conference in Sudbury on Thursday.

“It is an honour to be recognized as the FONOM Executive of the Year,” said Coun. Bain. “I would like to thank my wife and family, my employer – Martyn Funeral Home – North Bay City Council and staff and the FONOM Board, for the latitude and time to work on the challenges that municipalities in Northern Ontario face.”

Councillor Bain’s work on behalf of Northern cities and towns as a FONOM Past President and current 1st Vice President was highlighted during the banquet, which was held as part of the Federation’s 2019 Northeastern Municipal Conference.

“Mac has work tirelessly as the City’s representative with FONOM, advocating on behalf of our residents and those across the North. This recognition is well deserved,” said Mayor Al McDonald.

More than 200 municipal delegates, including Bain and other North Bay representatives, are attending the annual conference in Sudbury, which began Wednesday and runs through today.
