Tonight’s regular Council meeting is focusing on smoking and vaping.

First, there’s a presentation from Medical Officer of Health Dr Jim Chirico on the Smoke Free Ontario Act. Later, there’s a couple councillor motions coming forward.

The first proposes banning smoking and vaping of any substance in all places that smoking is banned, along with all city parks and on all city property, while allowing for designated smoking areas.

The second motion looks to impose the need for a $100 license to sell Electronic cigarettes, E-substances and Vapour products.

It also calls for the Tobacco Sales License cost to jump from $50 to $100.

There’s only one item on the committee meeting agenda, a report on 2019 assessment analysis and tax policy review.
