The Near North District School Board says they’re required by their agreements with their teacher union partners to provide notification of potential redundancies and that was done.

On Tuesday, that information of a reduction in staff of 121 teachers was released by the OSSTF at a news conference.

The board says the numbers aren’t final as they’re awaiting on the provincial grants for student needs information.

The release says they hope to have more information by the end of the month.

Meantime, the board has sent the province letter expressing disappointment with the recent education changes in relation to increase in class sizes, reduction in staffing, mandatory e-learning and funding cuts.
