Memorial Gardens is closed until further notice.

That’s the word from the city.

Engineer John Severino says some cracks have developed in the drywall on some non bearing walls and the building is closed for public use as a pre-caution until the cause of the cracks can be determined.

The city says a structural engineering firm has been contacted.

Play by play man Matt Sookram on the location of the crack.

“From the press box area all the way towards the suites,” he says.

Sookram this comes at an important time for the buildings big client the North Bay Battalion.

“This time is right in the playoff mix as they try and secure a playoff spot. If they can’t host another game they become a road team for the rest of the regular season,” he says.

The Battalion have just six games left in the regular season and 4 scheduled home games over the next 10 days.

Last night’s game was postponed and there’s no word on a makeup date.

The Troops also have home games scheduled for Sunday, next Thursday and on March 17th.
