There are some free activities on the go for Family Day today locally.

The YMCA has several ‘heart healthy’ activities planned today — starting 10 am.

There’s a family swim, dodgeball, drop-in family gymnastics, gym activities and more.

Donations to the Strong Kids Campaign are appreciated.

Meantime, the Capitol Centre has a free movie, ‘Willie Wonka and The Chocolate Factory’ at 2 pm.

Donations are being accepted to the North Bay Food Bank.

There’s also an afternoon of fun at the North Bay Museum from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Donations are appreciated but admission and activities are free.

Visitors can create their own masterpiece with water-colour paints.

There’s also a scavenger hunt where visitors can be entered to win a family membership to the museum.

Also today is also the last day of the first licence-free fishing event of the year in Ontario.

Canadian residents of all age can enjoy fishing Ontario waters, like Lake Nipissing, without having to buy a licence.
