City police report an ongoing street crime unit investigation led to the arrest of two people on Saturday morning, with a .45 calibre handgun found in a vehicle.

A 28 year old man and a 20 year old woman are both facing numerous charges including drug-related and weapons offences.

Both were held for bail hearings.

The LCBO says it’s ramping up security measures to deter thefts in some of its stores across the province.

Just this weekend, North Bay Police tweeted out some pictures of a man who filled a basket at the Lakeshore LCBO and walked out after doing the same thing at the LCBO on Algonquin, while wearing a different jacket.

A statement from the LCBO says it is increasing the number of security guards at select stores to ensure the safety and security of its staff and customers.

Employees will also be trained on how to take “safe actions” during thefts and how to be a credible witness to the crimes.
