North Bay Police say a home invasion last Wednesday evening that resulted in the death of a North Bay man was drug related.

Police held a news conference today after 26 year old Ryan Abraham and 25 year old Taylor Briscoe were arrested on the weekend and charged with 2nd degree murder in the death of 45 year old Abraham Kamerman of Beattie Street.

The lead investigator in the case, Detective Sergeant Jeff Warner says the accused attended the residence to engage in a home invasion style robbery.

“It is alleged that Ryan Abraham was carrying the firearm. Ryan Abraham then got into an altercation with the victim outside the apartment door and proceeded to discharge several rounds from the gun, striking the victim and fatally wounding him,” he says.

Police say following the shooting the two suspects fled the area.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police say Briscoe was located on Friday and is in North Bay awaiting a bail hearing.

Abraham was located on Saturday in London, Ontario and he faces other charges there.

Chief Shawn Devine says the investigation is ongoing.

He was asked about the weekend capture of the two suspects.

“It’s like putting a puzzle together and slowly the pieces come together. In this case, the puzzle came together rather quickly. And thankfully, it was completed without any further injuries or harm to people,” he says.

Devine was asked if a weapon used in the incident has been recovered.

“The weapon was recovered but we don’t have forensics indicating that was the weapon, but we believe the weapon has been recovered,” Devine says.
