An update on last night’s murder in the Beattie and Vimy area of Pinewood.

City police have identified the shooting victim as 45 year old Abraham Kamerman of North Bay.

Police also say they’re looking to identify a blue four door compact Chevrolet car seen leaving the area with two men inside.

The first is described as about 5’10 with a slender build, wearing a light coloured sweater and a dark mask or toque.

The second man is described as medium in height with a slender build, wearing dark clothing.

Officials say there will be an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues.

Meantime, a neighbour says he’s not surprised to hear about last night’s murder.

Ray Gravelle tells BayToday police are often in the area.

“Steady, it’s ongoing all the time here. A few years ago they had stabbings with two people stabbed inside and two people stabbed outside, it’s going on all the time here,” he says.

Gravelle describes what he and his wife heard last night, “I was downstairs and she heard the three shots, she came down and says ‘did you hear the shots’, I opened the door and couldn’t hear anything but I guess the person took off.”

North Bay Police say they were called to the scene just before 9 pm and found a man suffering gunshot wounds.

He died shortly after being taken to hospital.
