It’s called the Downtown Holiday Hub and the storefront at 157 Main West will soon be bustling with activity.

From November 30th to December 24th there will be a variety of activities, including gift wrapping on weekends, throwback Christmas photo sessions, seasonal workshops and more.

DIA Promotions/Marketing and Beautification committee member Katie Bevan says it’s a pilot project that revolves around bringing life to an empty space.

“We’re looking at these beautiful empty buildings, storefronts that have a lot of potential. Instead of it being empty as people walk by, we’ll pique their interest and make it active,” she says.

Activities planned so far include:
– Holiday gift wrapping Saturdays and Sundays for for items purchased within the DIA boundaries (By donation)
– Throwback Christmas photo sessions with professional photographers
– Santa Selfie portraits (Saturdays only)
– Makers Market (Dec 14 + 15)
– Seasonal workshops
– Lantern making workshops + Solstice Celebration
– Holiday Hub Swag for purchase
– Weekly draws

Officials say this year is a pilot project but we hope that we are able to offer the Downtown Holiday Hub at a different vacant location every year in order to activate a variety of spaces.

They’re also looking for volunteers to gift wrap on Saturdays and Sundays in December.
