Two goal performances by Matthew Struthers and David Maier led the North Bay Battalion to a 4-3 win over Ottawa last night.

Ottawa had narrowed the lead to 3-2 in the 3rd when Maier notched his 2nd goal of the game.

Both of Struthers goals were on the powerplay and Maier’s first marker came with the man advantage.

Christian Propp had a big game in goal making 41 saves as the Troops were outshot 44-26.

Assistant coach Adam Dennis says it was a team win.

“Everyone was pushing for each other. If there was a blocked shot our whole bench was up. All the little things that we did and the guys were supporting each other. It was really good to see. There’s lots of work ahead  but we’re really going to enjoy this win,” he says.

It was the first game at home since the Troops announced that head coach Stan Butler has taken a medical leave.

North Bay will host Peterborough on Monday.
