The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit has launched the ‘Normalize It’ campaign which promotes and celebrates breastfeeding anytime, anywhere.

New life-sized cutouts have been unveiled and will be popping up around the district.

“The cutouts have multiple purposes – to increase breastfeeding visibility, get people talking about breastfeeding, and to show our support as a community for breastfeeding families,” says Heather Lawson, public health nurse. “We’re also launching a fun and interactive contest to encourage people to engage with the cutouts.”

There’s also a social media contest where people posting pictures with the cutouts can win a grocery gift card.

Officials say from October 1st to the 15th, if people come across one of the four cutouts in the community, take a picture with the cutout and send it to the Health Unit.

The Health Unit will then post the picture on their Facebook page and ask their followers to vote on their favourite submission.

The top three photos will receive a grocery gift card (total prize value – $400).

Those who don’t happen to see one of the cutouts in person, can still participate by submitting a personal picture and/or a message about the importance of breastfeeding.
