The North Bay-Parry Sound District Health Unit says a harmful algae bloom has been found in Callander Bay.

The health unit says the municipal drinking water in Callander isn’t impacted as the water plant is equipped to handle the toxins in this bloom.

If private homeowners are not able to remove the algae they’re advised not to use the water for drinking, cooking, bathing or brushing teeth and the health unit says boiling the water won’t destroy the toxins.

As well, the health unit says don’t take part in water sports where’s there’s algae and keep pets away too.
