It’s Canada Day and there’s plenty on the go in North Bay.

While the country turns 151, the city is celebrating the 50th year since the amalgamation of the Widdifield, West Ferris and North Bay Townships.

Activities include the singing of O’Canada and a cake cutting at noon at the waterfront, along with a multi cultural showcase, Canada Day Kid’s Zone and a cricket game at Amelia Field.

Tonight there’s a CCR tribute band and fireworks.

Meantime, most retail outlets are open today.

They’ll be closed tomorrow along with most government offices.
