Employment was up in May in the North Bay area while unemployment was down.

Stats Canada reports the jobless figure last month was 6.5 per cent.

That’s down from 8.2 per cent in May last year.

The standard error was 1.6.

As for employment it was 57.3 last month.

That’s up from 54.8 in May 2017.

The figures include the City of North Bay, Callander, East Ferris and Bonfield.

There was also a thousand more people in the Labour Force, year over year.
