Taxes are going up in Callander.

The increase this year is about $71 and that’s $30 less than the tax increase last year.

Percentage wise the tax hike is 3.72 % higher this year.

A year ago, the hike was 6.15 %.

All this became official with Callander Council passing the 2018 municipal budget last week.

Some of the key initiatives this year include infrastructure work on Callander Bay Drive, a pre engineering study on King Street, resurfacing of MacDonald Road and Pinecreek Road South, improvements to the intersection at King and Swale Streets, a community survey on Callander’s future needs, council will be looking for funding opportunities for the new library, promoting the development and growth of local businesses through the community improvement plan, culvert repairs and improvements to the community park.
