North Bay is getting great reviews from the star of Carter, a TV series being shot in North Bay.

Jerry O’Connell says everyone is so nice.

He cites an experience while they were filming on the waterfront.

“Someone was doing work with a chainsaw, we just asked them ‘hey, can you turn your chainsaw off?’ and they were like ‘yeah, sure.”  If we were shooting the show in Los Angeles and we said ‘hey, can you turn your chainsaw off?” they would’ve said, ‘that will be, we’re starting off at $500,” O’Connell said.

Overall, he says North Bay is a well kept secret that probably isn’t going to stay that way too much longer.

“I have a feeling it’s right before the rest of the world finds out about it, you can feel that the people are so nice, it’s just a magical town”, he said.

O’Connell also says there’s a lot of beauty in the area, too.

“We shot in Powassan, some of those farms out there and I would look at the frames and it’s breathtaking, it’s just breathtaking.  We’re about to go shoot some other stuff on Trout Lake and it’s breathtaking,” he said.

In the TV show, O’Connell plays Harley Carter.

He says Carter is a police officer in Hollywood who returns to a fictional town called Bishop, to help police solve crimes.

“It’s like if Cardinal had a really great sense of humour, it’s like, if Cardinal had a couple of drinks and let loose on the dance floor at The Voy,” he said.

The John Cardinal series is also being filmed in North Bay.

Carter will be shown on Bravo next spring.
