Sunwing has announced it’ll be be returning to North Bay for a 6th consecutive season this winter.

The airline has announced there’s a direct flight from the Jack Garland Airport to a new destination this winter.

Rachel Goldrick is with Sunwing.

She says they’ve gone to different destinations in the past 5 years and Caya Coco, Cuba is a new one for the North Bay area this winter.

There will be a direct flight leaving every Wednesday for Caya Coco between December 20th and March 21st of next year.

She says Caya Coco has a lot for the tourist including a coral reef, home to pink flamingos, white sand beaches and activities like hiking, biking, snorkelling and diving.

Jack Garland Airport Manager Jack Santerre encourages travellers to take advantage of the service.

North Bay Mayor Al McDonald says the flight will be a great convenience for winter travellers.

He says the Sunwing flights have been very popular and something they can use to help promote the city.
