This is Canada’s 150th year and Discovery North Bay and Heritage North Bay are celebrating.

A new exhibit on the history of the city will open officially next week.

Curator Naomi Hehn says the exhibit includes what life was like for people in Nipissing way back to before the fur trade, the fur trade itself, displays on the local logging industry, a shipwreck with items recovered from Lake Nipissing, the history of the railway and local contributions to world conflicts including the First World War and the 2nd World War.

The opening ceremony will be next Thursday at 1 at the Discovery North Bay Museum.

Hehn says they’ve had a lot of help in putting the exhibit together including Fednor 150, the Canadian Cultural Spaces Fund, Trans Canada and Ontario Power Generation.
