North Bay Transit is going to have several repair projects on the go this year and the senior levels of government are paying for most of it.

Chair of Community Services Mark King says the total cost of the repairs will be around $2,4 million with the feds paying around $1.4 million and the province chipping in with gas tax funding which will lessen the municipal share substantially.

He says the city’s share will be around $200,000.

He says the list of projects will include sidewalks on McKeown Avenue between Cartier and Champlain which were a problem in the winter as people had to stand on snow drifts or on the street to catch their bus, a electronic fare box system for all transit vehicles, security cameras on all transit vehicles, the installation of 10 new bus shelters, digital signage at key bus stops, improvements at the maintenance garage, replacing a para bus and purchasing a new one and improving accessibility at bus stops.
