City fire crews report one person was taken to hospital for observation after an ice water rescue incident on Lake Nipissing.

Officials say they were contacted just after 9 am, after a man walking across the lake near the Lavase River went through the ice.

The new Rapid Deployment Craft was deployed and crews safely performed the rescue.

North Bay Fire and Emergency Services are reminding everyone that ice conditions are unsafe and deteriorating.
