The brooms were nearly put away in Kirkland Lake last night (Thursday), but the Powassan Voodoos ended up sweeping the Gold Miners out of the playoffs with a 7-6 win.

Powassan was up 6-1 after two periods, before Kirkland Lake would mount a furious comeback with four straight goals.

However, the Voodoos would hang on to the lead.

Tyson Gilmour’s second goal of the game, in the third period, would stand up as the game winner.

Powassan advances to the East Division final against the winner of the Timmins-Cochrane series.

The Rock lead that series 2-1.
