The Capitol Centre’s new season officially begins this weekend with a Canadian Music Hall of Famer.

Burton Cummings returns to the stage in North Bay on Sunday night. “I have a couple friends in North Bay that were musicians in Toronto, years ago in the 60’s and they ended up living in North Bay. I’ve been there many, many times through the years, but I haven’t been for a few years now.”

The show is called Up Close and Alone.

Cummings says he’s performing a lot of the famous songs, but it’s just him and a piano. “It’s kind of like the people are invited into my living room and they’re hearing the songs they way they sounded at home, when they were being writting.”

At last check, there’s about 50 tickets left. Go to capitolcentre.org for more details.

Originally with the Guess Who, Cummings was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall fo Fame this past March.
