The 9th annual Nipissing Ride For Dad goes tomorrow (Saturday) with officials hopeful they’ll see a record number of motorcycle riders taking part.

Sponsorship Chair John Strang says pre-registration goes from 3 pm to 7 pm today at the Canadian Tire parking lot on McKeown Avenue.

He says they’re expecting around 400 riders this year, up from the 375 that took part last year, pointing out they’re one of the largest Ride For Dad events in northern Ontario.

There’s also registration tomorrow morning from 8 am to 10 am with the Ride, in support of Prostate Cancer Research, getting started at 10:30 am.

Prostate Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed men’s cancer.

Officials say the Motorcycle Ride for Dad not only raises funds to fight the disease, it also gives men and their families a reason to talk about it.

With the help of sponsors, over a quarter million dollars has been donated through the local event.

2,600 riders have taken part since 2008 and have collected $200,000 in pledges.

101.9 Rock morning show host Mitch Belanger is the event’s Celebrity Ride Captain.
