dssabA successful pilot project involving the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board has been extended to at least March of next year.

The paramedicine project sees a full time paramedic working to enhance access to primary care for under-served populations and facilitate more appropriate use of resources.

Last year, 42 new or existing services were improved as a result.

DSSAB Chair Mark King says it’s good news, “The benefits of this program have become evident during its pilot period, not just in value for dollars spent, but in quality, patient-focused care throughout the district as we look towards the future and the inevitable needs of an aging population,” says King.

The program has been extended thanks to funding from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
