Nipissing funding

Over the next five years Nipissing University professors will get $1.5-million  in research funding.

Dr. April James, Dr. David Zarifa and Dr. Kirsten Greer have earned Canada Research Chairs which means they will each be given $100,000 every year for the next five years.

Nipissing MP Anthony Rota made the announcement and says they cover three key research areas; the environment, demographics and history of the environment.

He says it’s critical to get this funding for a university in North Bay.

Dr. April James received her CRC in Watershed Analysis and Modeling.

She says it’s a big vote of confidence to show the research they are doing is valuable.

James says over the next five years their research will focus on the linkage between the watershed and the lake.
