Battalion Defenceman Cam Dineen has been named OHL Defenceman and Rookie of the month for December.

Dineen has 6 goals 27 assists for 33 points in 36 games and leads OHL defencemen in points & assists.

With 2 goals 12 assists in ten games he was named Rookie and Defencemen of the month.

This included a 4 point game vs Mississauga on December 31st as well as setting up the game winning goal on December 18th in a 2-1 win vs Niagara.

Six of Dineen’s 14 points in the month came on the Power Play.

A native of Toms River, New Jersey, Dineen is draft eligible and was North Bay’s 11th round (214th overall) pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection.

The Nipissing Lakers mens hockey team are getting some insurance for the blue line.

A former OHL and QMJHL defenceman is joining the OUA club this weekend.

6-foot-180lbs Nathan Glass of Weston, Florida will bring his Major Junior experience to the University level.

Glass played in the NOJHL with the Soo Eagles and also appeared in the OHL with the Erie Otters and Saginaw Spirit before rounding out his junior career in the QMJHL with the Sherbrooke Phoenix.

He played in the Dudley-Hewitt Cup with the Eagles in 2010-11 and was drafted by the Otters in 2010.

In a release he says “I love it here already. I have to catch up a bit on my conditioning, but I can’t wait to get into the games. I am also looking forward to attending classes next week.”

Head Coach Mike McParland adds “We are definitely thrilled to add a four year OHL defenceman who also excels in the classroom, as he already has a couple years of university behind him. He will help stabilize our D for the next few years.
