The Battalion picked up their first win of the 2015-2016 season, but it wasn’t easy as the game finished 5-4 for the Troops on Friday night.

The Battalion went into the third leading 2-1 and each team scored three goals in the final 20 minutes.

Battalion Head Coach Stan Butler says they didn’t make it easy in their first win.

The Battalion had  five different goal scorers; Brett McKenzie, Riley Bruce, Zach Bratina with a pair, and Zach Poirier.

Dressed in the throwback Centennials jerseys, the Battalion took a 5-1 lead at the 7:41 mark of the third.

However, the Sting came all the way back to within a goal at 18:28.

But, the Battalion was able to hang on in the dying moments of the game and secure the win.

Butler says he’s trying to get the Battalion to follow three principals of hockey.

Jake Smith made 26 saves in net earning his first win of the season. For the first time in since moving to the Gateway City – a local player suited up for the Troops.

Brett Hargrave skated on the top line for most of the night but did not register a point.
