battalion100x108North Bay Battalion players will soon be making their way to North Bay to get training camp underway in preparation of the 2015-2016 season. There will be fitness testing followed by some intrasquad games starting September 3rd. Battalion Head Coach Stan Butler says two of his players have gotten some really good on ice experience this summer by playing in the Ivan Hlinka Tournament including Cam Dineen who played for the USA. Butler says “he got a couple of points, he was on their power play, I thought he played well and I think he’ll be a good player for us here.”

As well as Zach Poirier who won a gold medal for Team Canada “he was our 13th forward, he was in a tough position, but he handled it well.

He was in a tough spot but he played well and he was playing with the best players in Canada.”

Meantime, the  Battalion Hockey School starts today. Kids ages 7-11 get to participate in full day programs with Battalion coaches and assistants. Assistant Coach Ryan Oulahen says this marks the start of a busy couple of weeks leading up to the 2015-2016 season.

He says “We’re getting ready for the guys to come in, and it’s an exciting time because we’re getting back in it and we’re getting ready to rock.”
