pipesInfrastructure spending will be a big topic at the Northern Mayors Meetings, which takes place in Thunder Bay starting today (Thursday).

Mayor Al McDonald says the mayors of North Bay, Timmins, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay had made this one of their priorities in their white paper they developed two years ago.

The province recently announced they are holding public consultations in three of the four major centres, but that doesn’t include North Bay.

McDonald says that doesn’t mean North Bay won’t be heard.

He says even though there won’t be a public consultation in North Bay, the province has allowed him to sit in on the infrastructure spending discussions when they visit Sudbury.

McDonald says they want to work with the government and this northern Mayors meeting will focus on that as well.

He says they have put together a white paper on the issues they want the provincial government to address.
