bike tireEach year children are seriously injured or killed in bicycle collisions says the OPP – and they have released a number of safety tips both parents and children should be checking over before getting on the bike.

Community Services Officer Constable Carolyn Ward says that includes a working horn or bell, making sure there are reflectors and children should wear proper footwear.

Ward says parents should reiterate all of this with their children.

Ward adds having a proper fitting helmet is a must for children under 16 – and if children under 16 are not using theirs, a parent could be fined.
