waterfrontAn environmental and engineering assessment on a new multi-use pier at the waterfront will be taking place soon.

It was announced last week the city would be receiving $300,000 from Ottawa to go towards that study.

Chair of Community Services Mark King says his vision for the waterfront is different from what the architect has originally proposed.

He says “I don’t support the decommissioning of King’s Landing. I think what we’ll find is that it is cost prohibitive. To tear the dock down and provide a break wall out there using large rocks, with a park at the end – obviously that’s a nice idea.”

However, King says he doesn’t think that makes much sense, because the rocks create more of a danger for anyone walking along them.
