Nipissing-UniversityConvocation season is almost here and Nipissing University has announced the list of honorary degree recipients.

Professional goaltending consultant and Coach4Food’s Tom Hedican is one of six honorary degree recipients this year at Nipissing.

He’s one of three people receiving honorary doctorate of Education degrees.

The other two include Cree writer, educator, activist, author and former Chief of Fort Albany First Nation Edmond Metatawabin and Graeme Murray.

He’s a 2006 Paralympic gold medalist and two-time IPC Sledge Hockey World Championship gold medalist.

Receiving an honorary doctorate of Letters are OPP Commissioner Vince Hawkes, Susan Nelles Pine, a respected nurse who was wrongly arrested and charged in 1981 in connection to a series of deaths at Sick Kids Hospital and Dr Colin Simpson, who is a Canadian entrepreneur, software developer, educator and author of six textbooks.

Graduation ceremonies are being held June 10th to the 12th at Nipissing’s Robert J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre.
