Typically you’ll hear the home crowd chant “Bruuuuuuuuuce” if Battalion blueliner Riley Bruce takes out an opposing player, makes a great defensive play or gets involved in the offence.

This time, it’s his work off the ice that’s gaining accolades for the 6’6” defenceman.

Bruce has been named to the OHL scholastic team.

Erie’s Connor McDavid was named scholastic player of the year.

Meantime, London’s Tait Seguin who is from North Bay was one of the finalists for being the top post secondary student.

That award was won by Guelph’s Justin Nichols.
