The talented Calgary native puts on a tremendous live show, which is sure to please any country fan. His recent hits “Something to Believe in” and “Higher Ground” occupied the top spots on Canada’s country music charts.

Many fans have compared JJ Shiplett as a mix of Tom Cochrane and Bruce Springsteen; it is true that his voice resembles these great artists. JJ Shiplett is presently on tour across Canada, and Temiscaming is fortunate to be on of his 2017 tour stops.

Toronto, ON (February 24, 2016) – With a passion and reverence for the art of music and performance that has landed him countless descriptions in the media as “one-to-watch”, singer-songwriter and roots rocker JJ Shiplett delivers his signature gravelly and soulful sound to the masses with the February 1st release of “The E.P.”. Available now at iTunes, “The E.P.” is a four-song cut self-penned by Shiplett and co-produced along with friend, mentor and collaborator – Canadian superstar Johnny Reid, with whom Shiplett is currently on tour across the country.

Rugged, raspy and reserved, Shiplett often finds himself drawing comparisons to southern country rocker Chris Stapleton, and keeping with the Grammy winning artist’s laid-back vibe and honest lyricism it’s not difficult to see why. After Reid heard the Alberta-born Shiplett singing on another artist’s track he hunted him down and quickly offered a helping hand, taking him under his wing and working with him to rush “The E.P.” so that it would be ready for the start of the extensive and highly praised cross-country tour on which Reid invited Shiplett to perform.

While Shiplett’s sudden uprising may seem like a fortuitous stroke of luck, he has spent the better part of 12 years working in the music industry; touring incessantly, playing clubs and writing music – telling stories that mean something personal to him, like the uplifting track “Higher Ground” which was written after the devastating Calgary floods. “The E.P.” which debuted at #4 on the Nielsen SoundScan Canadian Country Albums Chart, is the perfect testament to Shiplett’s range and depth as an artist, and to the maturity and perseverance of someone unwilling to compromise on the path they were always meant to follow.
